Rodney Locke's Liver Transplant

Over Christmas holiday 2017, we heard the words no one wants to hear, "cancer" and shortly thereafter, "transplant". The diagnosis, end stage liver disease, cirrhosis, and multiple cancerous tumors in the liver. You can't be prepared for it. We have fought so hard to rebuild our lives and our marriage the past few years, the idea of life without him isn't an option. The transplant provides his only chance for survival. We have been through the unimaginable over the past few years. We live in Alcoa, and his doctors at UT had to refer his care to Vanderbilt in Nashville. (3 hours away) We have 4 daughters in our home (our oldest has returned home from college in NY to help with her younger sisters) and expenses are growing. We now know he will begin chemo, at Vanderbilt, which means multiple overnight trips to the hospital while we await transplant. He has now officially been placed on the list for a liver transplant, which will require us actually relocating to Nashville for minimum of 8-12 weeks while still maintaining our family and home in Alcoa. For those who have asked how they can help, we have established this fund. It will be used to maintain daily life for our girls, travel expenses, and unexpected needs that are sure to come our way. I will continue to update after our trips to Vanderbilt. **Update: We are now 18 months in to this process, already had 4 rounds of chemoembolization, and a new diagnosis of diabetes.
