Rodney's Homegoing Funds

Donation protected
Update:  Hello family and friends. We just wanted to express our gratitude for all of the love, prayers, positivity, good thoughts and most certainly the donations made to aid my sister with her beloved son’s home going celebration. The support shown by so many, including the countless souls who were virtual (and actual) strangers, is beyond belief.  Our sweet little fighter, Rodney, was laid to rest on Saturday, August 4th in a ceremony filled with love and gratitude. His Mommy and Daddy have an unimaginable battle with grief to work through in the days, weeks, months and years that lay ahead.

As many of you know, my sister is an incredibly resilient individual. Not many of us could have withstood much less overcome and persevere in the midst of the situation she suddenly and inconceivably found herself in 18 years ago. She went from being a young Mom doing whatever was necessary to take care of her growing toddler to dedicating her entire life by his bedside taking on the role of not only Mommy, but fulltime nurse and on call medical staff as well. During this time, it became nearly impossible for her to maintain full time employment. This was not because she wasn’t committed to providing for herself and her baby boy and certainly not because she didn’t need to work full time; but simply because she was not physically able to. Rodney was not provided 24 hour nursing care although he certainly required it. Since there was no way his Mommy would have dreamed of not administering the critical care that was essential to his wellbeing, it often came at the sacrifice of a full time position. Never discouraged, she worked as often as she could and as steadily as his schedule allowed.

Although an incredibly significant fund was raised for the funeral ($6,604 as of this posting) and we are forever grateful, unfortunately, this did not completely cover the costs associated with the funeral and outstanding medical expenses. It is for this reason that I humbly ask you continue to share this page. It is my sincerest desire to help ease some of the burden currently resting upon my sister’s shoulders as she begins this new transition in her life. She is fully committed (as she always has been) to take whatever measures necessary and continue to move forward and excel as best she knows how; in memory of her sweet prince. Rodney demonstrated, like the champion he was, how to never give up and it’s a lesion his Mommy will cherish.

Again, thank you from the very bottom of our hearts. We can’t even begin to express our appreciation and gratitude. To anyone who shared the story, commented with encouraging words, or donated to the Go Fund Me page – you have all made a significant impact on our lives. This entire experience has humbled us, and has solidified our faith in the goodness of people. It’s easy to become discouraged when things don’t go the way we’d prefer, but you have proven that there are so many beautiful reasons to be grateful.

Please continue to share this page as we uplift my sister and Rodney’s memory.

With many thanks and much love,

-The Raymond family

Original post: I am the aunt of Rodney Caldwell! I decided to start a campaign for my sister in her time of grief. Rodney was such an amazing and adventurous little boy! He was a blessing to my sister and our family! He was a Loving and compassionate caring little king! God gave us a special child but God sometimes have other plans for what we expect...... On February 29,2000 Rodney changed our lives forever! He nearly drown in our backyard pool and wasn’t expected to live pass 24 hours but Rodney is a fighter and proved to the doctors that he will conquer another 18 years despite of what the doctors predict!! On July 15,2018 God called for his son to Passover! Due to his health condition it made it nearly impossible for his mom to carry insurance! We are asking for all the help so we can give Rodney an honorable Homegoing  service that he deserves!! Thank you so much and God Bless.... please teach our babies on how to swim
