Brooksey's Battle

Donation protected
UPDATE:

Unfortunately Dad’s battle came to an end in the early hours of the morning on Monday 28 May. He took his last breath surrounded by those who love him the most.

Sadly he didn’t get to take his EK for a spin, but we would like to say a massive thank you from the bottom of our hearts to everyone who has contributed to this fundraising effort. During his last days, we told him about this page and all the beautiful comments that have been posted here. Dad was completely overwhelmed that so many people loved and cared for him.

Please join us to celebrate this amazing man.

The service will be held on Friday 8 June at 2pm at Pinegrove Memorial Park, followed by a celebration in the auditorium at St Mary's RSL.

The event page can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/178545262980505/?active_tab=about

We’ve updated our fundraising goal to represent Dad's birth date.

***********************

If you don’t already know, our awesome dad, Rod Brooks, is battling the fight of his life.

On 4 May this year, yes, just weeks ago, Rod found out he had bowel cancer, two days later he found out it was stage four and in the week following discovered it was inoperable and he was too sick for any other treatment.

Now we are just living for each day and enjoying the time we have left.

We have set up this page to help gather people friends and family to show their support so that dad can see just how many people know and love him.

If you’re a friend of Dad’s or even if you know of him, he would have invited you into the garage (which is always open) for a beer or three, and stood around a pile of car parts... well those car parts are his pride and joy, his beloved EK Holden, and now we are going to try and get it on the road in time for him to go for a drive in it!

Dad is a proud and generous man, he's always the first to offer help to others and would never ask anyone for anything, so this is not a charity case, this is us (his four children) trying to gather the support of his enormous network to show him just how many people care.

Everyone keeps asking us what can we do to help? So this is the only way we can think of to answer to that question.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: if you’re over 50 – take the bowel cancer test today – not tomorrow, today.  Find out more here: https://www.bowelcanceraustralia.org/screening

We have a great team of Dad's mates helping with the car, but if there's something you can help with, email us at [email redacted]
