Rockys Abdominal Cavity Infection

Everything started Sunday on 11/06 we went for our usual walk and I noticed he was straining. Same thing in the afternoon and evening and same as Monday morning. We took him to the vet Mon 11/07 and the vet tried putting enema and flushing but no luck. Then they took an xray and said he has an obstruction in the colon. The dr couldn't do surgery until the following day but my husband and I felt bad that Rocky was in so much pain and went to see another vet and proceeded with the obstruction surgery that same night. He came home that same night and the vet just said to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't lick his incision. We took him on a small walk on wed and still no bowel movement. We would give him his pain meds and antibiotics but he would throw it up. We got in contact with the vet and said to bring him in and we took Rocky in he did another set of xrays and he says he may still have an obstruction but couldn't see it clearly. The md gave him some fluids bc he was vomiting still and liquid pain meds and fed Rocky a lil. He said he wanted to wait a day or 2 for any improvement. We went home on pain meds, antiobiotic and stool softener. We were watching Rocky the whole night and we realized he kept vomiting. This morning at 6:00am my husband and I took him to the er and they needed to put him on fluids and do an ultrasound. We got a call after the sonogram was done and was told that there is water in the abdominal cavity and they took a sample and put it under the microscope and saw it was bacteria and had an infection due to the first surgeon cutting into the colon and the incision opening. The vet told us they would have to perform an emergency surgery unless we would want to put him down bc of the cost of the surgery is about 10,000.00 the worst part was that they said its a 50/50 chance of survival. My husband and I had to give Rocky a chance to fight.
