"Help Our Dad - Ron Tweedle"
Last July a heart angiogram revealed 4 more major artery blockages of 70% each, thus surgery was required. Last December he had quadruple bypass open heart surgery, dictating a long healing process, with various setbacks along the way that continue to challenge his recovery: neuropathy in the right leg, vertigo, swollen feet, constant chest discomfort, under doctors orders to do no lifting, straining, physical exertion (just some walking and aerobics for now), and of course the challenge of keeping stress to a minimum. Naturally depression has continued to befriend him.
Dad has been a self employed small business owner in our city of Hamilton for more than 35 years. His health and a downturn in business have made finances very difficult. He now has minimal income, no company pensions and no benefits. Hopefully he can return to work sometime in 2018.
Dad has just suffered another major setback: his partner Carol was diagnosed with esophageal cancer, late stage 3 squamous cell carcinoma, a cancerous tumor in the esophagus, along with cancer in her lymph nodes and stomach. Unfortunately, this cancer is fast and furious and carries an extremely poor prognosis. She has already started daily intense chemo and radiation treatments at Juravinski, if God permits these treatments will last at least 6 months. Carol is also self employed, thus no income, pension or benefits.
Dad and Carol are in a terrible predicament. As Dad continues his challenging journey towards healing, he now has the overwhelming task of being a full time caregiver for a loved one in an even more dire situation. Watching Carol suffer daily right before his eyes is very painful, his depression is deepening, his spirit is dwindling. It's such an overwhelming time for Dad and both our family, and Carol's.
For those who have had the opportunity to spend time with Dad, you know he has always been selfless, reliable, so very generous and kind, forthright, with a heart full of love and a fun, fun, fun spirit. This man that we have the privilege to call our Dad has entertained, supported, inspired and always been there for us - and everyone who has been in his presence has felt his unconditional love. Beyond his countless contributions to the lives of his loved ones, Dad has been an avid volunteer, serving his community for 45 years and most important of all, extending his hand to societies less fortunate.
Our Dad's spirit has broken - he very seldom smiles, jokes or laughs now, may we ask of you if you have a moment - we know life's so very busy - please leave Dad a comment below, to share some of the memories of the times you spent with him, remind him there is still so much beauty in this world and let's help him get back a zest for life. We all want our Daddy and Ronnie back.
At this time after months of trying to cope with these realities as a family, the time has come that we need to reach out to help Dad in any and every way that we can. So many people have asked what they can do to support us and our father at this time, and this is it! Please consider a monetary donation of any amount you are able - any amount is so appreciated by all of us and truly needed more than ever.
Please forward this to anyone you feel may be interested in helping out our Dad.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, the most important gesture of all.
We love you Daddy, Deedz, Rockin' Ronnie, The Turk, Ronnie Boy, Nature Boy Flair, Rainbow Ronnie, Homeslice, Ronaconda, Daddy-O, Ron Kwon Do, Ron Travolta, Jimmy !!!! (Connors), The Godfather,

Thank You and God Bless,
Mindy, Katy & Kurt
Well, it's been a while since the last update on January 29th. Unfortunately, this nightmarish journey continues, no reprieves, hope is diminishing. However, I'm very grateful for the many blessings bestowed upon me, you being one of them.
A message to my 3 angels Mindy, Katy & Kurt.... You have deeply touched my heart and soul, I truly thank you. You are my pride and joy, my purpose, my inspiration. I am honored to be your dad and friend. I will love and cherish you forever.
"Bless You All In Your Life's Journey"
Happy New Year, we really hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas season full of family, friends and amazing memories!
Carol’s cancer treatments have been called off. Sadly, after 9 months of intense treatments and major surgery, her cancer has continued to spread, thus her condition is now of a palliative nature. She still demonstrates immense courage, selflessly continues being a genuine, supportive and loving soul to those around her - a gracious and eloquent person who has touched so many lives.
As Carol approaches the end of her earthly journey, please pray she be blessed with comfort and true peace within her heart.
We are very concerned for our Dad: mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually and financially... it hurts to see the pain in those beautiful blue eyes. Over the last 18 months he has endured his own open heart surgery along with Carol's devastating cancer journey. He has also been off work all that time, presently having no idea when he can return (naturally a major very stressful concern for him). His immediate future is the continuation of watching Carol suffer daily, remaining a full time caregiver, locating her into a hospice, planning and then ultimately executing her funeral. And then wander off to a future unknown…...
The journey in the last year has changed Dad significantly. He is deeply overwhelmed, he very seldom smiles or laughs, he feels uncomfortable going out socially (when he does he'll still give you that adorable happy smiling face)... he presently is not the man we all used to know. He has been on an absolute emotional roller coaster, grief, sadness, hopelessness, depression, anger, stress and anxiety which has enveloped him. We can’t blame him either; the extreme suffering and what he sees and deals with on a daily basis is incomprehensible. He honestly believes he will never recover from this journey, and it appears he has given up the hope he so desperately had held onto. That amazing spirit has greatly diminished, we all need him back - HE needs himself back.
Let's pray that in time Dad will somehow genuinely become happy again. Let's all pick him up, dust him off and inspire him to once again
... Live ... Love ... Laugh ...
The man that was always there for us, that raised us to be the individuals we are today, needs his heart and soul uplifted, and of all people he truly deserves it.
We have been blessed with wonderful parents, they are true friends to us, we will cherish them forever.
Thank you once again for your love, encouragement, support, best wishes and never ending prayers.
With the deepest of love and gratitude....
Mindy, Katy & Kurt xoxo
