Black Panther has taken over the country and broken box office records. For the first time in our country's history, a blockbuster movie was created by and features an entirely black cast with various roles, backgrounds, and ideologies.
Although some may see this as "just a movie", we know it is so much more. As educators, and knowledgeable citizens in general, we know how important representation is for our students. For our students to strive for the best and push their own limits they must see examples of people like them doing so.
Many of our students are unable to see the movie due to various circumstances (home situations, lack of transportation, etc) but we can not let this hinder their ability to experience this incredible moment.
We are raising money to take ALL of our 3-5th grade students to see Black Panther by the end of Black History month. Tickets are $5 per student and we need to cover the cost of transportation as well.
