Robin's Debut Solo Album

Donation protected
Your neighborhood music teacher is embarking on a creative journey to the studio! I’ve worked on a debut solo album of original music and will be recording in early June! Your generous funds will help cover a portion of production and manufacturing costs, session players, and studio time in preparation for a late-summer album release! I’m so grateful for the continued support of the local community, friends, and family, and look forward to seeing this project on its feet and putting together a release performance.

About the project: I’ve roamed the hallowed halls of academia as a student and teacher. I’ve stumbled onstage, read millions of notes, and waved my baton for thirsty singers yearning for the gratifying quench of music. I’ve written hundreds of papers in exchange for three, though the burden of the latter feels infinitely heavier. For a long decade, I’ve ignored the quiet call of an old friend, a call silenced by years of inner monsters and classical ghosts, a friend whose whispers have surfaced from a deep pool of impossible expectations.

Songwriting.

What could a middle-class suburban, midwestern white girl have to say about the world? Could an unremarkable story become unforgettable through the exploration of style, mood, and an undeniable classical training? “In All Degrees” begins with a 2/6 life crisis and weaves through roads and waves. You’ll hear ten songs of the sun and moon, of self-love and other-love, ache, loss, and peace. Throughout them all, a piano lingers, my blessing and curse. The piano is where my story started and where I’ve returned. Too many times, I’ve left my instrument to gather dust. The upright beauty where I learned how to love sound still sits in a basement; I came back to her after fifteen years to remember why I make music. This project is for anyone who has had to push down their demons. This is for the cobweb clearers, for the gardeners who are replanting roots in a creative graveyard. The final, hopeful line of the album will encourage all the trained underdogs of the world to go forth and create: “still she plays, still she sounds, still she sings.”
