Robert Grijavla Jr. is a sophomore in high school and a San Carlos Apache and Viejas Kumeyaay youth advocate against Suicide and leads his campaign “Suicide Is Not Our Tradition!” for his San Carlos Youth council requirements to get to The UNITY National Conference in Florida this year! He is the son of Chrissa Stevens-DesRosiers and Robert “CC” Grijalva Sr and grandson of Janice Stevens-DesRosiers, Norman H. DesRosiers, the late Abby Martin Long and Edna Grijalva.
Robert has been very active against prevention efforts in his community and within the Native American Communities he is invited to. He worked hard for the past year volunteering with SCATYC at any and all events which empowered, enriched and gave back to the people!
He attends the San Carlos High School on the San Carlos Apache Tribe in Arizona. Roberts social media campaign in Facebook names Suicide is Not Our Tradition has gotten many hits and shares as well as guest appearances from celebrities and tribal leadership! He is calling attention to a serious issue that threatening our community and youth legacy! It’s been a tough effort to take the ups and downs of suicide prevention and he has lost two people that hit close to his family. He was there to help and give emotional support. He continues to find new prevention trainings and give motivational presentations on the statistics and data to the community.
I say it’s our turn to help Robert our in his fundraising efforts to help with his travel costs and spending money while in Florida. Many family and friends wanted to donate to Robert specifically so we set up this GOFUND to help with your request! Please share, donate let’s get the word out!
