Robbie's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
On Monday February 6, we rushed Dad (Robbie Friend) to the ER with complaints of fever and halucinations. By the time he arrived his breathing was labored and the ER staff knew there was a serious issue. They transfered Dad to the main Hospital via MICU and admitted him to ICU where we learned that he was very sick and would soon need intubated.  After a long night of tests they told us Dad had a Staph infection and it was later confirmed that it was MRSA.  He has Sepsis Shock and is in Critical Condition. The infection is in his blood and in his lungs.  It has also affected a valve of his heart.  Since being admitted he has undergone several procedures, tests and retests.  He is currently still on a ventilator and possibly faces open heart surgery in addition to all of the other issues.   During all of this, my mom (his wife) was also admitted as she had been caring for his wound and had developed a fever and an infection spot as well.  She is finally home but not without pain and a packed wound that needs care twice a day.  Dad has a long road ahead of him that includes rehabilitation after being discharged from the hospital which at this time is impossible to predict.  Dad is the only provider in the home and my brother and I are spreading our time driving to the hospital to be with him and to their home to check on Mom.  With this being the begining of the year, the deductabiles are going to hit them hard, along with the loss of pay for an undertermined amount of time.  My Dad is a great man and one of the hardest working men I know.  He would give you the shirt off his back if someone needed it.  He will hate that I've done this because that's just who he is, but I'm determined to get him back to playing with his grandkids and doing the things he loves without worry of how he's going to get by after all of this.   Please help in anyway that you can.  If you can't help at this time, please say a prayer for him, he needs all he can get.
