A HUGE Thank you to all the donations  - please note that you will be contacted after the roadtrip with details on your perks and levels of sponsorship.

TheOneRing.net is broadcasting LIVE as we drive from Hollywood to Atlanta's Dragon*Con 2012 talking Tolkien and The Hobbit along the way and producing a documentary short of the journey. Our company of volunteers are preparing to embark on this adventure, will you help?!

WHAT THIS IS ALL ABOUT: TheOneRing.net thought it would be fun to send a group of staffers on a cross-country road trip (see the map) from Los Angeles, California to Atlanta, Georgia meeting fans along the way, supporting the official Tolkien track while we are there, and delivering a series of Hobbit panels at DRAGON*CON 2012. Then we want to make a short documentary film of the entire experience to share free online! The entire trip will be live streamed so the "company of drivers" can interact with fans 24 hours a day. With gas (or petrol) prices reaching new heights, we need your help to make this a success!

BACKGROUND: In 2011, fan volunteers Larry, Cliff, Grimlock and Justin embarked on the first ever road trip across America streaming live from the truck the entire time and meeting fans at every stop. It was exciting to meet Tolkien fans from all walks of life. Whether it was university students in Denver to religious ministers in Georgia, it was unforgettable to talk about how Tolkien impacts their daily lives. Fans at home came along for the ride day and night with live streaming video, chat room, and TheOneRing.net mobile phone to share stories, recommend local Tolkien landmarks, and win prizes from our sponsors. Over 3,000 fans met us in person and 250,000 fans watched online... which inspires us to do it again.

WHY YOU SHOULD HELP: TheOneRing.net is a 100% independent not-for-profit volunteer run website delivering the latest news on books, games, movies and more from the world of J.R.R. Tolkien. We are looking for funding to pay for gas, food and lodging as we drive across America to DRAGON*CON.

We are graciously asked to host many panels at many conventions around the world and are happy to oblige thanks to a broad network of fan volunteers, but travel still costs money. TheOneRing.net is never paid for convention appearances and shoulders all the costs in getting there. We believe it is worth all the effort to meet fans from every part of the world!

DRAGON*CON presents a unique opportunity to drive and meet people that normally could not make it to a major convention, and also for fans to help support the site in return. Some would call this a literal CHARITY DRIVE!

WHAT DO YOU GET?: We have set up multiple Reward Levels to further make supporting us a breeze! Here's a breakdown of each level so you are fully aware of what great stuff you will get!

I'm familiar with KickStarter (donated to several projects there), not so familiar with gofundme. But don't you think you should have some limits on some of the award levels here?

Bilbo's father used to say, "Third time pays for all," so I'm making a third donation. If Bungo was correct, this should take care of all your expenses. ;-)
