Road to recovery ... learning to walk together!

On November 23rd 2018 this amazing little man Draycen Frederick Cooke was born with a rare condition called gastroschsis. His loving parents were scared and confused as they had no prior knowledge of this illness. He received emergency surgery right after being born and was held in the NICU and unable to be held by mom and dad for several weeks. While both parents wanted to remain at the hospital with their beautiful boy daddy had to return home to prepare the room for a Christmas homecoming. On December 16th 2018  while Devan (daddy) was home preparing for Draycens homecoming he was violently attacked! His attackers stabbed him once in the head and 6 times in the legs then stomped him repeatedly and left him to bleed out. Help arrived in the nick of time and called the rescue. He received 6 units of blood and almost died. He suffered a broken knee and severed sciatic nerve. Devan is a strong and determined individual and a hard working talented jack of all trades yet will never be able to walk again. He has undergone surgery to repair the sciatic nerve with a cadaver graft however specialists have given him a less than 50% chance of ever walking again. While Devan still struggles daily with the unbearable pain and horrific nightmares. The individuals who are responsible are walking around free men! Please any help would be appreciated many surgeries and medical equipment are needed to assist in the continued recovery of both daddy and baby! Money will be used for an adaptable bed as well as medical bills and prosthetics to help Draycen and Daddy walk together!
