Road to Recovery for Jason Miller

Donation protected

My name is Levi and I am writing for my dad.

At 7:30 pm on Saturday the 12th of November, my father Jason Roy Miller was hit by a car while walking his bicycle across the Beaufort bridge.  He was with my mom, his brother , and sister-in-law Michele. Currently, he is suffering from three brain bleeds on the left side, a broken nose, and a fracture on his left cheek bone.  Doctors cannot tell us how long it will take or have an idea the extent of his injuries.

Jason (my dad) is a Greene County native growing up at the 4-Way in Hookerton where his parents Roy (Pappy) and Connie (Mimmie) have lived for 48 years. He has two children including myself Levi. I'm sixteen and my adopted sister Venancia is twelve. My dad wanting to raise healthy, intelligent, God loving children has always lead by example.  He became a Deacon and Sunday school teacher at Hugo Free Will Baptist Church in Grifton. This is the church where his grandfather, who passed away earlier this year, was the preacher for about 25 years. In order to support my family and I, He received a masters in education at ECU.  Using this degree along with the support of friends and family, he was able to work from being a Special Education teacher at our local high school to becoming the Associate Dean at the Greene County Center Lenoir Community College. This year he has gone back to ECU to pursue a Doctorate in Educational Leadership. My dad often gives back to our local community through volunteering on various committees and events. The amount of emotional support our family has received since the accident is unbelievable to say the least.  The food, the cards, the people, and especially the prayers have done far more for our family than anyone will ever know.   I have never felt so secure in a situation so unpredictable.  However, because of the uncertainty of his recovery time and the extent of both mental and physical damage, my family is reaching out to our community for financial support.  Right now my family is estimating that the medical bills could exceed a million dollars. Your financial support would mean so much to my family because right now my mom has not even left my dads side.  She can’t work, my dad can’t work and we can’t even think about how we would even begin to pay the bills.  More importantly, we ask that you continue to pray for my dad!
