Bubba’s Road To Recovery

Donation protected
Bubba has always had love and passion for two things; his two daughters Kaylee and Peyton and extreme sports. While his daughters take up the majority of his time, he still found time for riding. Whether it was riding dirt bikes, quads or his most recent passion, mountain bikes. He found joy in downhill racing. He loves the competitiveness, the rush and simply being outdoors and active.

What he had planned for a fun weekend at the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, CA turn out to be one that will change his life in so many ways. On April 11, 2019 he was coming down the hill for a practice run and unfortunately did not make it down. Bubba was brought down the hill and taken to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, CA. There it was discovered he had broke his spine in two places, broken ribs, shoulder, arm, hand, fingers and knee all on the right side. Once his parents arrived, they were informed he had no feeling from the waist down, leaving him paralyzed. That night, Bubba under went a 6 hour spine surgery to help correct his spine and remove bone fragments. He is scheduled for upcoming surgeries to help heal the right side of his body. As Bubba continues to heal, there is no guarantee he will walk again. This has devastated him and his family. You could find Bubba any day of the week outside and active; biking miles to work, riding quads, running, hiking or simply finding new adventures with his girls. This truly is life changing for him, his girls and his family.

Bubba has a long road of recovery moving forward. For Bubba, the drive, determination and desire to walk is there. Kaylee and Peyton are his driving forces. They are his motivation. God and his girls will be the reason he walks again. Because this journey will be long, we are raising money to help take the financial burden off Bubba and his family. This will help with medical expenses, rehab, medical equipment, hotel and gas expenses for the next year or longer.

As a family, we thank you for reaching out, your prayers, support, kind words, hope and love. If you cannot donte, please keep Bubba in your prayers. Please come visit him to keep his spirits high. Thank you for being apart of Bubba’s journey and not allowing him to do this alone.
A very special thank you to his friend Josh for staying with Bubba for hours on Thursday until his parents arrived at the hospital. Because of you, Bubba was not alone during a very scary time. The medical team at Natividad Medical Center. The surgeons, doctors, nurses and staff have been so great. Bubba’s parents who have not and will not leave his side or allow him to lose hope. Lastly, 6D helmets. The top of his helmet is indented and the inside is cracked. Bubba has a minor concussion. His helmet saved his life and other possible head injuries.

As Bubba’s family, we cannot express how thankful we are for you and your support. Bubba is so blessed to be surrounded by all the love, prayers and support.

Thank you.
