Luci Coke is our dear friend, a celebrated staff member, and one of the most dedicated moms we know--she is also a private person, so we decided to ask for help in this manner.
Here is what the media is missing about her son, RJ, and his girlfriend Hallie:
They have been best friends since grade school.
They have been dating and inseparable for the past two years.
Luci and Hallie's parents live doors away from each other and are also very close.
On the Friday afternoon of the accident, RJ finally decided that he would go to prom with Hallie as his date.
RJ and Hallie were two minutes from their homes when a patch of black ice caused RJ's car to slide sideways, and a car going the opposite direction crashed into the passenger side.
RJ has had numerous health issues since his Freshman year, and Hallie was by his side for all of them (the picture shows her with him last year during a hospital visit).
While he has his mom with him, he is missing his best friend, his confidante, his love. He and his mom are strong, and they are survivors, but this tragedy has hit them hard emotionally and on RJ's part, physically.
