Response to Orlando Shooting

Donation protected

Hello friends! Right NOW! with Carolyn Castiglia is proud to raise funds for two very important groups in the wake of the Orlando shooting at Pulse on June 12: Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and Human Rights Watch.

I am deeply angered and upset that homophobia and violence against the LGBTQ community continues in spite of the strides we've made for equality. That's why I've asked a guest from Human Rights Watch to speak to our audience on July 14 at Union Hall about this epidemic, and show us what we can do to move forward and take action to protect those we love.

Additionally, I know the depth of the wound caused by losing a loved one to gun violence. When I was 18, my grandparents died when my grandfather shot my grandmother and then turned the gun on himself. Moms Demand Action is a non-partisan grassroots movement to mobilize moms and families to advocate for stronger gun laws. It is a subsidiary of Everytown for Gun Safety, along with Mayors Against Illegal Guns, which was founded by former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg, a staunch advocate of gun control. A representative from Moms Demand Action will also appear on the show to talk about how we can help America become a gun safe country once and for all.

"A heady mix of stand-up comedy, music and conversation, Right NOW! is refreshingly self-aware and just the right amount of raw. Rebecca Vigil leads the house band and is both hilarious and an amazingly accomplished improvisational singer who complements Castiglia’s equally hilarious and incredibly quick-witted hosting style. No, really—I’ve rarely seen anyone as quick on their feet as Castiglia, and it works beautifully with the tone and pace of the show." - A Women's Thing

Featuring:

Stand-Up Guest Naomi Ekperigin (Comedy Central's The Half Hour, writer for Broad City)

Musical Guest Reformed Whores (AXS TV's Gotham Comedy Live, opening for Weird Al)

Panelists Kevin Allison (Risk!, MTV's The State), Chemda (co-host, Keith and the Girl), Loren Hennessy (co-host, Kill Me Now w/Judy Gold), Jesse Wegman (New York Times editorial board) and representatives from Moms Demand Action and Human Rights Watch talk about violence against the LGBTQ community and how to effectively pass gun control laws!

...and more games and surprises! Plus, as always, featuring Katie Hartman (Skinny Bitch Jesus Meeting) the music of Rebecca Vigil and The Righteous NOW!

Hosted by Carolyn Castiglia (MTV, VH1, HLN)

Thank you so much for donating to such important causes. We have to do everything we can to end gun violence and violence against the LGBTQ community in this country and around the world. The picture above of my daughter and me was taken at the NYC Pride parade after we finished marching with Moms Demand Action to #DisarmHate. Let's raise money, raise consciousness, march in the streets and LAUGH our way to safety and peace for all!
