The motorsports community is mourning the loss of veteran corner worker, Edward Richard Reins, 68, of Moss Landing, California.

Reins was a familiar and friendly personality at race tracks, and particularly WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, and always arrived early for shifts to enjoy the camaraderie of his fellow workers and racers. Reins’ passion for motorsports began as a driver, and then transitioned into being a corner worker for his love of the sport and people. He had 40 years’ experience as a corner worker and was a Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) track official since 2005. He first joined SCCA in 1975.

The outpouring of support from course workers, marshals and the racing community nationwide was swift. To honor Reins and facilitate financial support for his family, the Laguna Seca Raceway Fund, the 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization for the raceway, has established a special benevolent fund for those wishing to donate money to the family of Richard Reins.

All funds received will go to the Reins family to provide support with expenses.
