Can you Help a Great Skydiver?

Our friend and skydiving legend Ricardo Pettena needs your help!

Probably the best known and most accomplished skydiver from Latin America, Ricardo was the Brazilian and South American RW champion many times over, a co-founder of Skydive University, and among the most experienced and influential skydivers of our age. Winner of 20 Brazilian gold medals in 4, 8 and 10 ways, and 3-time world record holder as a technical sector captain, as the Chief of Safety and Instruction committee in Brazil Ricardo reduced fatalities to zero during his tenure.

Ricardo has developed bone cancer and has returned to Brazil to be with his family while undergoing aggressive treatment. Ricardo and his family do not have the funds to pay for the very costly chemotherapy, medications and treatments required to save his life.

Ricardo desperately needs our assistance!!

Please contribute whatever you can to help Ricardo beat this demon!

All donations help! Please make your donation before it is too late for Ricardo!

My friends, I am very happy today because my Doctor had some good news for me. She said last week’s tests showed that my body is responding well to the chemotherapy. Now I will start a new phase of the treatment with radiotherapy. Thank you for the good vibes, prayers and support. You are all so wonderful and I pray for your happiness, health, sucess and safe skydiving.

Today I went through another session of chemotherapy. So far, I’m feeling good. I will soon let you know about my next PET-CT. Feeling a little anxious to know how good this treatment did to me so far.
Thank you my friends for all the support. I love to hear from you. We are a big worldwide family. I’m trying to write individually to everyone to say how grateful I am, but it takes a while. See you soon in the sky. Actually, not so soon. Yesterday the doctor said she will not let me skydive until I complete one year after I finish all the treatment. The tumors metastasized and may have weakened my leg and left shoulder bones a little. Made me a little sad, but I can wait.
Love you all,
Ricardo

I thank you all my friends for your donation to this campaign that was put together by my skydiver friend Mark Timms. Your messages, prayers and positive thinking helps so much.
As of today, February 20th, I have been through four chemotherapy cycles and one radiotheray. Now I am in Campinas at my father’s an I feel good, so much better than when I was at the hospital.
Next step in this treatment protocol is to do all the tests again and see how my body is reacting to it and eventually do some adjustments. I am very confident.
Again, thank you my friends. Shortly I will be among you all and doing what I like best.
