Bailey's Medical Fund
In February 2016, Mike and Kelly were married. Being family oriented, they couldn't wait to start their own adventure into creating a family. Mike works downtown at a marketing firm and Kelly works as a cardiac nurse at a local hospital. Despite their busy schedules, they were so excited when they found out they were pregnant!
Born on September 19, Bailey was originally born at Edwards Hospital. Hours after she was born, she was diagnosed with dextrocardia, a very rare heart condition where her heart is on the right side of her body. When it was discovered how severe her health was, she was transferred to Christ Hospital and has been there for the past two weeks. Her brief life has been a myriad of tests and already she's had one major surgery while a multitude of others are pending.
I want to help in the only way I know how: helping to alleviate the stress and pressure on Mike and Kelly that come with medical care. Their full focus should be on helping their daughter fight instead of worrying about all of her bills. Both parents are currently residing at the Ronald McDonald house next to the hospital where they spend all day, every day supporting, helping, and loving Bailey through this difficult fight.
Well, Bailey continues to prove to us that she is a fighter! Those little pink boxing gloves she was given are coming in handy!!
Bailey was removed from the ventilator about 10 days ago but had some difficulty initially learning how to use her lungs again. Just like muscles, they need to be used or they forget what they’re supposed to do! After a few ups and downs, those little lungs are improving. Now we are focused on the lungs improving and starting the feeding process . . . VERY slowly.
Bailey and all of us who love her want you to know how much your thoughts, prayers and kind acts are appreciated. Knowing that we are supported by so many caring and loving people helps give us strength. Hugs to each and every one of you!
She has a few more hurdles to go, but she is holding her own. Thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts, prayers and donations. We are blessed.
Bailey underwent another surgery to replace the failed shunt that was previously inserted. Keep the prayers coming. She is a fighter!
Discouraging news today, Bailey has a perforated stomach. She is back on bypass and being pumped with a variety of strong antibiotics to hopefully fend off infection. As of right now, she is in serious but stable condition. Another surgery yet to come.
