Volunteering in South Africa

Bonjour ! Cet été, j’ai décidé de partir en Afrique du Sud, via une association britannique de protection de la nature et j’aimerais partager ce projet avec vous.
 
Comme certains d’entre vous le savent, j’aimerais orienter mes études vers une carrière de vétérinaire et cette expérience s’inscrit dans le cadre d’un échange avec des professionnels de terrain. Après avoir passé deux semaines dans une ferme de production laitière et un cabinet libéral vétérinaire, j’aimerais saisir l’opportunité de découvrir les soins dans une réserve naturelle africaine.

L'African Conservation Experience propose un accompagnement individualisé qui mobilisera une grande partie de mes économies. Si pour vous comme pour moi, ce projet suscite de l’intérêt, une participation, aussi modeste soit elle, me toucherait beaucoup. Elle permettra de participer au fonctionnement de l’association et à la sensibilisation et l’éducation locales.

Pendant 3 semaines, j ’accompagnerai une équipe de vétérinaires sur le terrain dans le cadre de soins de prévention, de traitements des blessures, de suivi des gestations, de réintroductions d’animaux dans leur milieu naturel, etc …

A mon retour, c’est avec plaisir que je partagerai mes souvenirs et anecdotes à travers un lien internet à suivre!

I am volunteering three weeks this summer in South Africa, more precisely in the Kruger National Park. Knowing that I want to follow veterinary studies in the years to come,  I’ve tried to gain as much work experience as possible. After spending a week in a dairy farm, and another in a vet cabinet, I now want to travel and meet more endemic animal species. I’ve contacted the African Conservation Experience (British organisation) and signed up for this great opportunity. Even though I’ll be working the rest of the summer to finance this project, I also need your help.
 
I will be following an experienced wildlife vet for 24 days. We will face different situations such as disease prevention, treatment of injuries, pregnancy testing, wildlife relocation and more. I will be lucky enough to work with a large variety of animals (giraffes, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, antilopes...etc) 

Not only will the donations enable me to live through a life-changing experience, but they will also provide better resources, equipment and training to those who dedicate their lives to protect and care for wildlife. The funding will also go towards supporting and educating local populations.
