Reuben's Fight

As many of you know our sweet Reuben had to undergo emergency surgery this past Sunday. These past couple weeks Reuben had been losing weight rapidly, vomiting and showing signs of pain and discomfort. After having an ultrasound, the vet discovered blood and fluid around his abdomen. Reuben underwent a long and complex surgery on Sunday. The vet found a hole in his intestines which has been causing him severe pain and to vomit after each meal. The veterinarian gave Reuben a 20%-50% chance of surviving the surgery and following days of recovery. So far, our strong pup has pulled through! These next 36 hours of recovery are crucial for Reuben as we pray that he continues to fight. Currently, Reuben requires around the clock care. This care is pertinent to his survival.

The surgery, fluids, medication and care has been extremely costly and in just a few days will total upwards of $25,000. This does not include continued care as the vet has advised Reuben has a long road of maintenance ahead.

Reuben is a beautiful 2 year old pit bull that Danielle and Steve rescued and fell in love with in September of 2014. A few fun facts about Reuben that most of you may already know:

- He loves to watch TV and sit on the couch like a human, especially King of Queens and the Animal channel

- He has a bit of an under bite that makes his face and smile more lovable than ever
