Retiring Marine MSgt House Fire

Please take a moment to become familiar with the plight of MSgt Adam Wilner and his wife, my daughter, Bobbie. I rarely ask anyone for help but honestly feel that this is an appropriate time.

On May 31st while Bobbie was assisting us with house hunting for our relocation to Las Vegas, her and Adam’s home caught fire. When I say there was a fire, it is an understatement. It was all consuming and resulted in a total loss of everything. Adam was there and was basically left with the shoes on his feet.

After completing nearly twenty-four years in the Marines and I being a retired Marine SgtMaj, I assumed that the Marines, Navy Relief Society, Red Cross and the many other service related organizations would take care of one of their own and his family but that has not necessarily been the case.

Currently Adam is being processed for Medical Retirement to likely have additional back surgery while being treated for PTSD and other service related physical and mental health conditions. Of all the times that something this catastrophic could happen, this is by far the worst.  It is stressful enough transitioning from close to a quarter of a century of Active Duty Military to civilian life without losing everything.  I don’t know what happened to the Marine Corps I knew which always took care of their own, but this is not it.
