Restore Happy Chef Newtown

The beloved Newtown institution, Chinese Restaurant ‘Happy Chef’ lost most of their long standing business in a fire on Saturday 24/11/2018.
Losing a small business for those who’ve build it is soul destroying, and as a long standing King Street establishment they are more than just a member of our Newtown community.
Inner West and Newtown people support each other and that is what this is.
A way to help them rebuild what is lost and be able to get through the next few weeks & months.
I imagine they will have large bills to fix up the restaurant but no way to make income the next few months. No to mention to pay their every day bills and living expenses.
I do not know the owners of Happy Chef, but I am sure that they will appreciate the community coming together to say thank you for the many years of providing us with delicious late night Chinese food.
As the fundraisers we will make sure the money is used fairly and where needed and not squandered. Don’t worry. We just want to see those that lost their livelihood restore their lives and this beloved business.
We realise that perhaps a lot more than 50k will be needed but this should make a good dent into things for now.
If we raise less than the hoped for 50k, say we raise for example $5k this will still be available almost straight away and all go to the owners to help them restore and rebuild.
All donations will help, $10, $20, $50, $100. It all adds up.
