For all of you that do not already know, my Uncle, Bobby past away suddenly on Saturday afternoon. He had been so excited about his daughter, Morgan coming home from Florida that afternoon. He went to the airport to pick her up, hugged & kissed her, but never made it back home to us. Ailish and Morgan were in the car driving back with him when they tragically witnessed losing their father. It has not only been shocking, but devastating as well. Bobby was not only an amazing single parent to Taylor, Morgan and Ailish, he was also an amazing grandfather, son, uncle, brother and friend as well. He was so loving, gentle and kind and has ALWAYS been here for all of us in his own way. When my husband had passed away, he found us a home two houses away from his. He was there for us every day. He helped me raise Colin and Shay. I think some of my children’s best memories are growing up with their uncle Bobby and his girls. We had so many laughs and tough times together. My uncle had a heart of gold just like his father (my Papa). He would never say a bad word about anyone. He always said yes to anything you would ask of him. He had some life challenges, as we all do, but his girls and grandchildren gave him the joy and love to live through it all. I will forever be grateful for all of the kind gestures he did for myself & my children over all these years. I will miss all of his Facebook messages bragging about his children and asking how my day was. Just the little things about him. I still can’t believe he’s gone! He will forever live on through his children & grandchildren and will forever be in our hearts.
Bobby touched the lives of so many people during his life, but most importantly, he touched the lives of Taylor, Morgan, Ailish, Jaylen and Avery. He worked many hours and would still take his two grandchildren as much as possible. He always said “Ahhhh...I love it! They are so good! They never cry!” Then he would always admit to me how exhausted he was. Lol. Those babies are going to miss their Papa so incredibly much. My uncle loved them and did anything he could to support his daughter in helping raise those children... just as he did for his own girls. He always had a lot of love to give. His girls are just starting their lives as adults. Ailish is only 19 years old. They are not ready for this. But, then again... How could anyone be ready to lose their dad at any age?!
My heart is truly broken. Watching my grandmother mourning the loss of her son is truly heartbreaking. No parent should ever see their child go to heaven before them. I know anyone of us with children cannot fathom what she is going through. I don’t know what to do or how to help. All I can do is cook, reach out and be here. I wish I had the answers. Inside I feel like I owe my uncle Bobby for all the millions of times that he helped me. I wish I could repay him for his love and support when I needed it most.
Everyone is asking ‘What do I do? How can I help?’ This is the only thing I can think to do. My uncle worked six days a week for not much money. Sadly to say, he had no life insurance and no money for his services. His girls could use all of our help. I know it’s the holidays and we are all struggling, but just imagine their first Christmas two weeks after losing their father. It’s breaks our hearts.
I would just like to say thank you for all the love, prayers, calls, texts and emails. Every single one means the world to all of us. Please feel free to share any story that you have about my uncle with us. We will look forward to hearing the funny ones from back in his days as a bartender. I am sure so many of you remember.
