In light of recent political comments made towards countries in desperate need of our help, we want to resist hate and nourish our friends in Haiti and Africa with with love.
No country is a "shithole". We know from personal experience that every country is full of people of value. We want to offer you a way to respond in love, instead of getting caught up in the hatred.
Haiti: Clean water for Haitian medical clinic .
Since 2010, the WNY Impact Foundation has been working in Ile a Vache, Haiti, to help that community to recover from the devastating earthquake and provide access to education and medical care. After building a school, we are now turning our efforts towards a medical clinic that will serve upwards of 20,000 people, The money raised will provide the $10,000 for installing a system to provide clean water for village residents and patients at the clinic. Malawi, Africa: Weather patterns are increasingly unpredictable in Malawi, Africa due to climate change. As a result, the growing and harvest seasons can be completely lost. Malawi was identified in 2017 as the poorest country on the African continent. Two years ago a feeding center was built in the Malawian village of Mponela to offer consistent nutrition for children. The money raised will provide $10,000 towards this program.
Zimbabwe, Africa: The lack of access to clean water in Africa is one of the biggest challenges to overcoming poverty. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) has found that it is also one of the most powerful opportunities to create change. With a simple well as many as 500 families gain access to clean, safe water. Communities are healthier. People spend less money on medical expenses and more on food and education. And instead of spending hours each day gathering water for the family, women and children have time for work and school. Talk about a future filled with hope! The money raised will provide $10,000 for 4 wells.
