Rescuing Homeless Angels

Donation protected

In the spring of 2016, we saw kittens in our backyard (we live in townhomes, so it's a common space) that were living under our neigbor's deck.

We inquired about trapping them, but were told that the neighbor had been caring for the neighborhood cats and that they would be fine - fast forward to spring 2017, and those kittens had become cats - INTACT cats.

We didn't realize they hadn't been spayed/neutered until we saw one of those cats with a kitten in tow... then another, and another - this poor girl had 6 kittens in her first litter!

Enough was enough, and we decided to take action.

We volunteer at a local animal shelter, Angel Ridge Animal Rescue, and used our connections to find humane traps, dog cages, litter boxes, litter and food for the babies. Over the course of two weeks, spending every evening nonstop, we managed to catch the entire litter, as well as their momma, and another intact adult male.

But our shelter was overrun with kitten season, and they couldn't take them in - so, we became foster parents. For the last 5 months, our shelter has helped us care for them, and got them spayed/neutered, and helped us find them forever homes - all but two have found them already!

Unfortunately, to run a TNR operation (trap, neuter, return) for the adults, we had to pay out of our own pocket. Which we did, and they are living happy, healthy lives back in our neighborhood.

But the problem continues - we've discovered another kitten! He's a few weeks younger than our litter we think. We've been feeding him and will be trapping him very soon, as well as the remaining 4-5 intact adults that have been coming by with him.

So, my husband and I are asking for your help - we're looking to raise money to TNR the entire neighborhood colony, rescue and foster the kitten until he can be deemed adoptable, and provide insulated housing and food/water during the upcoming chill of winter for the outdoor colony.

This is URGENT! On average, an intact female cat has 1-8 kittens per litter and 2-3 litters per year. During her productive life, one female cat could have more than 100 kittens. A single pair of cats and their kittens can produce as many as 420,000 kittens in just 7 years!

If we can't afford to control the population, animal control will be called in, and the colony could be euthanized unnecessarily. Help these kitties live full lives right in their own home.

All remaining funds will be given as a donation to our shelter Angel Ridge for our cat house, Bailey's cat haven.

We're starting the fund at $1,000, but I would love to make an even BIGGER donation to our shelter. So please consider giving to help provide bedding, food, enrichment, and good quality of life for our resident angels.

Anything you can spare to help these angels will be greatly appreciated - be sure to check back for updates!
