Rescuing Horses from Slaughter

Second Chance at Cheekye Ranch (SCCR) started with a slaughterbound pregnant mare.  She was dropped off at a kill pen where she and her foal would have eventually been shipped off to a meat factory to be killed without mercy.  A sister organization, True Faces of Slaughter pulled Piper and 24 others out of that situation.  After seeing how many horses have been sold into slaughter, to no fault of their own, and reading the statistics, we have decided to organize our efforts and save as many as we can, putting together a quality rehabilitation, training and rehoming program to give second chances to as many of these beautiful souls as possible.  SCCR is in the process of formally registering as a non-profit organization (legal registration pending).  We have accepted 24 rescues into the program and are looking to fund their feeding, care, rehabilitation and training to ensure greater adoptability when they are ready to find their forever homes.  So far, 15 of the 24 have found their new forever homes.  Further funds raised will be used to rescue other horses and put them through the same rehabilitative program.  This doesn't solve the greater problem but at the very least we will change the individual lives of each horse pulled out of those dire conditions.
