Steve's Bee-Keeping Quest

My name is Steve Culbreath and I am passionate about making the world a better place, on an individual level, within our own abilities. 

Bees are struggling to survive as mainstream mega food conglomerates are disrupting natural behaviors and environments by treating GMO crops with pesticides.

Bees are vital to the healthy functioning and survival of virtually all eco-systems. The benefits of healthy vibrant bee colonies are many.  We derive many benefits and products from their activity.  

I wish to do my part in helping Florida's bee population survive and benefit the local eco-system in southern Pinellas County, where I live, by becoming a trained and certified bee-keeper and maintain healthy vibrant hives who will produce 100% organic local honey. 

The honey and other products derived from bees wax, etc. will benefit local consumers, who will be able to get 100% organic, natural products at a fair price. 

The moneys raised here will help diffray some of my up-front expenses in obtaining the Florida state-sanctioned training, obtaining all necessary equipment to build and maintain hives, and most importantly stocking the hives with healthy populations of bees from reputable sources within Florida. 

I will begin my bee-keeping journey this March (2016) and hopefully will be harvesting the first batches of honey later this summer.
