Replace Shane's Scooter
Hey everybody! My name's Patrick Padilla, and I am trying to raise funds to reverse the fortunes of one of the most important people in my life. His name is Shane Bowers. Since meeting him a year ago, he's brought so much joy into my life. However, in the past few weeks, we've both hit a few road bumps, and we need your help.
The Backstory:
On Wednesday, September 13th, Shane Bowers went out to his scooter to find that after months of hanging on by a thread, his scooter had finally lost its battle for survival. The transmission had died. The next day, Shane and I went out, and together, we purchased a brand new scooter. On September 20th, between the hours of 2 am and 6 am, the scooter disappeared no more than six days after the vehicle was purchased. After contacting the police and reporting the missing vehicle, and after spending the next two weeks monitoring online sales for listings on similar scooters, we found ourselves in a conundrum.
With no way to have saved up money for a second replacement vehicle and no sign of the lost vehicle, we need to find some form of reliable transportation for Shane. The walk to and from his job takes about forty-five minutes, and while I help him with his transportation needs, I am not always available. I live an hour by car from his apartment, which has caused a significant financial and time-related burden, and I have been working extended hours both to help save up more money and due to having a smaller staff at work than normal.
The Costs:
Costs will vary according to what we raise. However, should the campaign be fully funded, we will be using the funds to buy a new scooter, the accessories needed to ride a scooter, insurance on the new scooter, and devices to help both help prevent theft and to track the scooter down in the case of theft. This is what we expect the breakdown of spending to look like should the campaign meet its goal:
$1800 - Scooter
$250 - Taxes, Titles, Fees on Scooter
$50 - Helmet with Wind Guard
$25 - Goggles
$75 - GPS Tracking Chip for Scooter
$100 - Funds to Begin Insurance Coverage
$200 - GoFundMe Fees
Why This Is Important:
Replacing Shane's stolen scooter would allow Shane the ability to complete his day-to-day activities without worrying about whether or not he would have adequate transportation. It would reduce his commute to work from forty-five minutes to about ten minute, and the scooter's fuel efficiency would reduce costs for both of us.
Shane and I have hit more than our fair share of road blocks in the recent months. While I won't detail every setback we have had, they have significantly reduced our financial stability, and we are doing everything we can to get back on our feet. In helping us recover from this theft, you will allow us to get back on track in building our lives.
