Repair Flood Damage In Peru

Donation protected

From 2014-2016 I served an LDS mission in Piura Peru. It was the most amazing experience of my life and I was able to meet the most wonderful and humble people. The members of the church were so good to me and did so much to help me out. During the last few months, due to heavy rains and limited water drainage, the majority of this wonderful city has flooded and has forced so many out of their homes. Many also have thin tin roofs that have either collapsed or are so riddled with holes that the home fills up with water. In order to give back, (and on behalf of all those who have served with me in Peru) we would like to be able to provide relief packs, new tin to strengthen roofs, and even supplies to rebuild homes. There is only so much that we can do at this point, but even small donations will be able to go a long way to at least provide food and provisions until the rain passes.

Many supporters have asked how the money will arrive to Piura and how it will be put to use.
PLEASE READ, THIS IS OUR FINANCIAL PLAN:
On Friday, March 17, Dayne Richards, a returned missionary from Piura will head down to distribute the funds that we have raised up until that day. Once he has arrived to Piura, he will give the money to Aldo Diaz, who is the Church's distribution and maintanence manager. The money will then be distributed between four of the most affected areas which are Tacala, San Pedro, Enace, and Lopez Albujar. The bishops of each ward will then, through a ward counsel meeting, determine what the money will be used for (i.e. Food, Roof Repair etc.). Each bishop will also be in contact with a representative here in Utah, each expense will be recorded on receipts, sent to those representatives, and then released onto this page to ensure all of our wonderful donors that their money is being put to good and honest use.
On Wednesday, March 22, the owner of LDSxpress, Liliana Baldwin, will be traveling to Lima, Peru and then to Piura. She will take with her the rest of the funds raised by then and give them the Aldo Diaz, and the same process as described above will be implemented.

We thank you all for your time and donations! The people of Piura are so loving, humble, and kind and really deserve our help. If there are any questions, feel free to contact me through Facebook.
