Reno A Cappella Academy 2017
Donation protected
Hey everyone, my name is Reno Selmser and I am 17 years old Bass from Simi Valley California. I was recently accepted into A Cappella Academy for the summer session of 2017. I am extremely excited about this amazing opportunity to create music. Last year I was fortunate enough to go to A Cappella Academy, and it was life changing. There was an accepting and inviting environment throughout the whole session that inspired me from the second I arrived. Last year I was blessed to be in the Blue Grass/Folk group, which was a lot of fun, and I really got to learn the art of A Cappella. This year I am extremely honored and excited about being in Legacy A Cappella, a community A Cappella group from Los Angeles, that is under the direction of Rob Dietz one of the Camp's founders. We recently competed and won The Los Angeles A Cappella Festival.
Here is a background on my music training and overall involvement in music. When I was three years old I began playing the piano and continued to play till I was ten. During that time I sang with the Dhaka Children's Chorus, and started in The Los Robles Children's Chorus-- with which I was able to sing at the Grand Ole Opry. When I was in third grade I started playing the Violin and swithced permanently to Viola when I was in sixth grade. I have played in the Conejo Valley Youth Orchestra since sixth grade, and currently hold the position of assistant principle viola. For the past two summers I have played in the Idyllwild Chmaber Orchestra at the Walt Dinsney Concert Hall and last semester I played in the Colburn Chamber Orchestra.
Last summer was my first time singing A Cappella Music, and I feel that it has opened up a new door for me in music and life.
The money being raised will directly help me attend this amzaing camp, and the deadline for all moneys being raised ends on the thirteenth of March. Attending this camp means the world to me, and through it I was able to find my passion, singing a cappella. Any amount that you can donate will be extremely helpful and I am so thankful for you reading this.
Wishing you the best,
Reno Selmser
