Renick's Louisiana Flood Funding

To friends we may not ever know, my wife, baby boy, and I have lost so much in the Louisiana floods. We moved down from Virginia about two years ago for work. Several months later, Eliah decided to join the team! It's just been us three down here ever since.

Last night 8-13-14, we watched the waters rise inch by inch until it finally breached our doors and filled our home. Bri and I lifted as much as we possibly could with what little time we had but nearly everything we owned saw the murky shin high waters. We only have two suitcases full of belongings. Every pair of shoes is lost. All of our clothes are ruined because of mildew or because they are under water. Bri's car is flooded and with the water rising because the rain continue to fall, I'm not sure about my truck.Very very little will be saved or salvageable from our house, if anything.

We have no family here, but the Lord has and always provided for us and meets our every need. When we needed to evacuate the house around 3:30 am, a neighbor across the way kindly welcomed us into his home where we were finally able to get a few hours of rest.

The house is not ours, as we are renting it, but everything in it was (except the washer and dryer). Sadly, we do not have flood insurance because we are outside of the flood plain. The historical record flood height for this area - before today - occurred in 1983, which peaked at 41.5 feet. We would have been okay even all the way up to 45, but this flood reached at least 46.

All in all, we praise the Lord for all He has done for us - we are all safe and everything we ever owned was a gift from Him. Now is no different. With confidence we know that He will see us through.
