Renee's Car Accident Bills
Hello. My name is Renee. I could really use some help. Recently, while on a trip with friends, I was a passenger in a car accident. Someone t-boned us, and we crashed into a gas pipe in a ditch. We were all alive, thankfully, sustaining some injuries. I ended up with a badly bruised spleen, heavy bruising and burns on my neck and chest, and significant injuries around my pelvis because of the seatbelt, and around my body due to the fact that my airbag did not deploy. I also ended up losing a tooth that had to be repaired. Even after experiencing such trauma, all I could think about other than the safety of my friends was paying for everything. I kept telling the nurse and doctor that I couldn't pay for their services, while still shaking from the adrenaline after the accident. Just the prospect of it was terrifying--I have no money to speak of, if I can't pay these bills I'll be financially crippled for a very long time. But I was assured by the medical staff and my friends that everything would be alright and my bills would be paid. Needless to say I was wrong.
My parents are apathetic about the situation, and refuse to help me in any way. We are barely scraping by as it is. I've been left to entirely fend for myself in this situation. Meanwhile, my other friends involved were covered by insurance immediately, with no effort on their part because their bills were not as high as mine. I've been rejected and ignored several times up to this point, despite almost daily phone calls with many people, and different conversations that always get me different answers. I've been insulted, ignored, had people hang up the phone in my face, and lied to several times over in delays to payments and coverage. I am the only one out of my group of friends that hasn't been covered for my medical bills, and have been given a very hard time while trying to go through this process. I've been dealing with this for months now. I just want to move on. I have no money to my name to pay these bills despite my efforts, and this has just become a problem bigger than I could have imagined. I've reached my last resort, and I need to get this problem resolved as soon as possible. My deadline for insurance coverage is September 2nd. I have no other options left.
