About Paul Ambubuyog:

Paul Ambubuyog was born on December 20,1973 to parents, Leopoldo and Evelyn Ambubuyog, in Quezon City, Philippines. He has 2 sisters, Ana Rochelle and Irene Liezl, whom he was very close to. They all came to the United States when he was 10 years old. Paul graduated from Lane Tech High School In 1992. That is where he met his High School sweetheart, Bernadette Benesa. Paul obtained his Bachelor's Degree at DeVry University in 1996, and worked in IT for many years until he pursued his lifelong dream of opening a martial arts school. In 1992, Paul married Bernadette. They had 3 beautiful children, son Leon (20), son Marcus (19), and daughter Amor (14). In 2012, he and his family opened Top Level MMA training center. This was the same year he was diagnosed with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma (a rare cancer that starts in head/neck, and travels to the major organs through the nerves). Paul proceeded to have his lacrimal gland and left eye removed. Within a month, he was back on the mats, teaching and training with everyone he loves. Martial arts has brought Paul a multitude of loving friends and training partners that they all call family. He has touched so many lives by giving them encouragement, strength, confidence, and happiness. Paul radiated as a person. He was always happy, cracking jokes, and strived to get people to come together. In 2015, they found innumerous lesions scattered throughout both of Paul's lungs. No one would have known as he lived life as best as he could with his family by his side. Paul would want his legacy to live on through his dream of Top Level, and through his family and the family that he has accrued throughout his lifetime.

About our Brother, Leon Ambubuyog:

Leon is currently studying Kinesiology with dreams of becoming a physical therapist. When he transferred into UIC, he sought a family and found Delta Epsilon Mu, pre- health professional co-ed fraternity. Since his crossing at Psi Chapter with Eta Class in Fall 2017, he has continually embodied the loyalty, dedication, friendship, and support our organization stands for. Everyone can speak to Leon's amazing personality and the love he radiates to everyone he meets!

He is our current Recruitment Chair, and has mentored 2 of our newest members as a Big! He had balanced commuting, his schoolwork, work schedule at TOP LEVEL MMA, active membership, and volunteering commitments throughout his father's illness. He has always led by example and inspired many of us to be the best we can be.

Since his transfer in 2017, he has kept his family's situation a well-kept secret out of his shear modesty and humility. He has supported his brothers and sisters through crises; and has always been the most humble, hardworking, and kindhearted brother. The brothers and sisters of Delta Epsilon Mu wish to extend our deepest condolences to Leon and the Ambubuyogs.

All donations will help the Ambubuyogs with funeral expenses.
