Remembering Juwan

Donation protected
My husband and I have been together for 14 years. We decided that we should get married last year on September 23, 2019. On our 7th month anniversary, April 23, 2019, our lives were changed forever. Juwan and I were in a horrific motor vehicle accident where we were rear-ended trying to exit the highway and pushed onto oncoming traffic. Our car was lodged under a semi-tractor trailer truck bed until the truck jackknifed and our car flipped several times until landing upright. Juwan’s side of the car got the blunt of almost every impact. My husband was in critical condition, overlooked by one nurse and doctor during a critical health moment that spiraled his condition even further. (I have to say that my husband had some amazing doctors and nurses in-between that have positively impacted my life forever.) Juwan endured several surgeries, however after contracting phenomena, his condition rapidly declined until he could not hold on any longer and he passed away on my late father’s birthday June 12, 2019. My beautiful husband was the strongest man I have ever known. Our family and the world have lost a great humanitarian, awesome man, wonderful father to 9 beautiful children (including twin toddlers), and amazing husband. My husband and I were just on our way to complete our final papers for a graduate course at the University of Louisville. We took the same Feminization of Poverty course because we both have a dire passion to help eliminate systemic oppression and educate folks that are disproportionately underserved… you know the folks that others in society have selectively forgotten or deemed unimportant. My husband, who would have graduated in December of this year (2019), was pursuing his masters (MA) in Pan African Studies, with a concentration in Political Science. Juwan would have then gone on to pursue his PhD in Political Science and become a college professor and educator. I have also completed my masters (MEd) in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health and I am a mental health/substance abuse therapist, but I have been out of work since April of this year. I am also in a doctoral program (PhD) at the University of Louisville, in Pan African Studies, concentrating in Psychology.
Juwan and I were in a financial transitioning state and did not have any life insurance nor death benefits. My severance package that covered our life insurance ended on April 19, 2019, and the car accident was 4 days later. We also started a business called Begin to Talk LLC, which is a counseling and consulting business on April 16, 2019 to help eliminate stigmas with mental health, however the business has not properly launched as I stayed by my husband side during his hospital stay; not leaving even for one day. Thank you for the donations thus far... now our family has hit very hard financial times and we need your help. Any and all donations will go to support financial obligations and our family in our time of need. We love and appreciate anyone that can help and those who cannot provide financial assistance, we welcome and thank you for your prayers. Attached is also my CASH APP information if GoFundMe not a viable option. Thank you in advance.
