We are raising money to help pay for family expenses due to his sudden death, and to allow the community to give back to someone who dedicated his entire life to helping the children in our community excel in their careers.

Edward J. Heim, age 67, was called home to the Lord on February 23rd, 2017. Ed was born on May 29th, 1949 in Portland, Oregon to Jay and Dorothy (Woody) Heim. He was a 1967 graduate of Oregon City High School and served his country during the Vietnam War as an Army Ranger in the 101st Airborne Division (1969-1971).

July 14th, 1973, Ed was united in marriage to the love of his life, Carol Weicker. Ed and Carol were blessed with 44 years of marriage, 3 children, and 4 grandchildren. Ed loved Carol deeply and, together they enjoyed riding and caring for their horses, camping, the great outdoors, and spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Throughout his life, Ed had an evolving passion for the automotive industry, He has always enjoyed fast cars and big engines. From precision maintenance, to tires, to high performance specialty engines, Ed dedicated a portion of his life to this passion he had for cars. One of the greatest joys in Ed’s life was teaching others about the automotive industry. During his lifetime, Ed taught automotive classes at both the collegiate and high school levels. As the automotive teacher at the Battle Ground High School, Ed enjoyed educating young adults about the automotive industry. He was always impressed with the student's continually growing knowledge of the automotive field and the passions in the young adults that were forming under his tutelage.

Ed's patience and multitasking skills kept his classes constantly moving
in different directions in a small space, so all of the students could learn to the best of their abilities. He was their teacher, mentor and most importantly of all, he formed friendships with so many that lasted through out the years. He always made himself available for questions and advise on or off campus.

Recently, using the vast knowledge Ed acquired over years of auto work, he co-authored an automotive textbook that was used not only in his classroom, but in countless automotive classrooms across the country.

Grateful for having shared Ed’s life are his loving wife Carol; three children, Brian (Jamie) Heim of College Place, WA and their children Naomi and Maxton; Annah (Andrew) Morgan of Durango, CO; and Katelyn (James) Hansen of Battle Ground, WA and their children Madison and Tobias; along with many other family members and friends. Family, friends, and others whose lives Ed has touched are invited to join in a celebration of life and cruise-in (weather permitting) at the Battle Ground High School auditorium on March 11th, 2017 at 2:00 PM. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family through a Facebook page titled, Remembering Ed Heim.
