Remedy for Remedi Pt 2

Donation protected
Hello friends, family, and anyone else reading this,

First off, thank you to everyone who has donated to the previous GoFundMe for Stephenie Lai (aka Remedi) and for all the love and support she has received throughout what has been the most difficult year of her life.

Unfortunately, the battle is not over.

As you may know, in the spring of 2015 Stephenie received the life-changing news that she had Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer of the white blood cells in her immune system. Having just finished her Master’s degree in Public Administration at the University of Georgia, Stephenie began her fight against cancer. For six months, everything was put on hold as she underwent intense chemotherapy.

Stephenie completed her last chemotherapy treatment in October of 2015. Although we all hoped this would be the end of it, her oncologist found that the chemotherapy was not enough to stop the cancer growth. While the tumors have shrunk, they are still highly active. Unfortunately, her fight is not over.

Stephenie is now in the process of preparing for an autologous stem cell treatment, in which her stem cells will be harvested and frozen. She will then undergo high dose chemotherapy to kill her immune system, both cancerous and healthy cells.  Her harvested stem cells will then be replaced in her body.

Stephenie’s autologous stem cell transplant will take place in early 2016. This will be a long, difficult process involving with a long recovery period. Although she has been through so much already, she still has a long road ahead of her.

For anyone who knows Stephenie, you know that she is a bright, caring, and compassionate person. She has always been that one person who would never forget important date, who would go above and beyond anything that is asked of her, and who would go out of her way to help anyone in her life. While undergoing chemotherapy, she not only has she volunteered at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, she has fundraised over $2,000 towards blood cancer research and lead a team at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Light the Night Walk. With all that is going on her life, she continues to think about others and does what she can do give back. Her strength, positivity, and selflessness throughout this process have been nothing short of an inspiration. She has an extremely bright future ahead of her but has been challenged with a tremendous hurdle to overcome.

This fund is to help relieve some of the total medical costs that will come with her autologous stem cell transplant. This includes more chemotherapy, prolonged hospital says, and a lengthy recovery process. We appreciate support in all form and thank everyone who has already been there for her. But most of all, we ask everyone to please pray for our beloved friend, sister and family member.
