Relief for Jenna and Tadpole the Service Dog

Donation protected
If you work at BSC, you’re probably aware of Jenna and her service dog, Tadpole. This dynamic duo can be spotted around campus, and while we’re not supposed to stare, we can’t help but notice that he’s a very good boy.  What you might not be aware of is that lately Tadpole has been sick – very sick.

Just as Tadpole was starting to feel better after a difficult few weeks culminating in an IBD diagnosis, Jenna noticed a lump on his prepuce.  The count quickly rose to four lumps, and on August 5, they heard those awful words: Tadpole has cancer.  The lumps are mastocytomas, or mast cell tumors (MCT), a type of skin cancer that can have systemic effects due to the release of histamine from the tumors.  As of right now, we know T will need surgery and chemotherapy, and we will post updates on here as often as we can. You can also follow @ssdtadpole on Instagram for updates on T’s cancer treatment journey.

Tadpole is so much more than a service dog to Jenna. In her words, “He is my comfort, my strength, my partner, my safety, the key to my happiness and independence. When he came into my life he made me feel brand new and filled all the dark empty places that trauma left in my soul.”

Even though Tadpole is a service animal, none of his medical expenses are covered by insurance, so Jenna could really use our help at this extremely difficult time. Let’s show them our support and help get Tadpole back to his favorite place: by Jenna’s side.
