Relief Action for Guatemala

On Sunday, June 3rd, Guatemala suffered a devastating event when the ‘Volcan de Fuego’ erupted and immediately destroyed and buried villages in the surrounding areas due to pyroclastic flows.
People are still being rescued and many are reported missing. Rescue efforts (including firefighters and EMT equivalent) have little to no resources as they are severely underfunded and in some cases depend on volunteers. Further, affected communities need resources as they are left with nothing.
The death toll so far has been reported at 99 people and that count is expected to grow once the rescue teams are able to fully engage in the affected areas.
The latest statistics are

· 46 wounded
· 1.7M people affected
· 12089 people evacuated from homes
· An unknown number of people missing and houses destroyed
I am currently working with family in Guatemala to reach out to reputable organizations where much help is needed and the funds will go directly to those impacted.
Possible Organizations to engage:
- Common Hope is an organization situated in Antigua, near the volcano, and serves the affected population. A family friend works for the organization, and I fully trust its efforts
- Direct funds to the Bomberos Voluntarios
Once the organizations are vetted I will be posting updates on funds transfers to be fully transparent by all.
