Donation protected
My name is Jocelyn Gemme I am from Quebec, Canada and I have been living in Nicaragua for three years. I live in a small fishing village called Salinas Grandes which is located on the coast of the pacific. I am very passionate about helping the community in any way I can. Unfortunately, garbage and recycling services do not exist in this village, and I have started a non-profit with a group of voluteers called "Salinas Bonitas" to educate the community about garbage collection and recycling. The main part of our participation is through education and physical garbage collection and awareness that garbage build up creates an unsanitary and unhealthy environment not to mention the lack of appealing for the tourism industry. The big problem we have is that the garbage accumulating at the beach and other locations; which in turn, affects the marine life and its beautiful surroundings. Currently, we are collecting recyclables and organizing garbage collection. We are collecting funds to build a small recycling facility which will provide new accessories. For example, we would transform the plastic into plates, bowls and other useful items to make a daily life easier. In addition, this project will create

employment to the local community. The outcome of this project will transform the mentality of the local people to be more conscious of their beautiful environment and become more sustainable with their resources. The people of Salinas Grandes are compassionate, thoughtful and generous people and I would like to help to provide them with a better way of living. We thank you for your support!
