Rebuild the Mangyan Demo Village

When the typhoon hit Puerto Galera on Dec. 26, 500 houses were completely destroyed while about 5000 houses were badly damaged. This includes the Demo Mangyan Village in Villa Malasimbo.
The recent super typhoon Nina destroyed the "demo" Mangyan Village which we built 7 years ago within our property which served as a showcase of the 8 distinct Mangyan Tribes' way of life and cultural heritage. These destroyed huts showed visitors the distinct architectural style or design of each Mangyan tribe which differed from each other. No Mangyans actually lived in these huts except during the annual Malasimbo Festival where we would invite the Iraya Mangyans of Puerto Galera and the Hanunuo Mangyans of Mansalay to stay there while they demonstrated to the public their traditional crafts such as handloom and basket weaving where they also sold their traditional handicrafts.
Our reconstruction will have to be done by the Mangyans themselves whom we will hire so that they can build authentic looking Mangyan huts.
The "demo" Mangyan Village also serves as a venue for workshops and seminars regarding the rich indigenous cultural heritage of the Mangyans and our advocacies for environmental protection and tamaraw conservation.
We hope to receive your donations on or before Jan 30, 2017 so to prepare the demo village in time for the Malasimbo Festival!
