Why I Chose To Fund Hearts Therapeutic Riding
The reason I decided to fund Hearts Therapeutic Riding (Hearts) was because of my brother, Nathaniel. Nathaniel “Nate” was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) a few years ago. This made it hard for him to socially interact with others, and he had a hard time staying calm. My parents started to think about sending him to Hearts. They thought that being around horses would not only help Nate’s overall behavior, but also show him the wonderful gift animals bring to the world. When we asked Nate, he said that he wanted to try riding because he had seen me up in the saddle, doing Equestrian horseback riding, and wanted to do that, too. Eventually, Nate started taking lessons, and over time has grown more and more comfortable on and around horses. I have been to many of Nate’s lessons, at Hearts, and watched him and other children grow. I saw the dramatic effects that therapeutic horseback riding has made on people’s lives, and how just being able to talk with a non-judgmental, kind creature can make a world of difference for anyone.
I want Hearts to be able to reach out and help more kids and adults. The money I am raising will help them to have the funds to care for their horses and their facility. Hearts serves children and adults with disabilities, at-risk youth, and in a program called Operation Unbridled Freedom, military veterans. Later on I hope to volunteer at Hearts. I want to give back even more to a place that has improved the lives of my brother and countless other children. My challenge is to raise $2000, for Hearts, for improvements to their arena and facility. This will help ensure that Hearts will always be there for the riders.
Overall Hearts Therapeutic Riding has done wonders, and changed so many lives with their programs. Horses have always been near and dear to my heart, so it was almost second nature to choose to donate to Hearts Therapeutic Riding Center.
I would like to invite you to view my GoFundMe site at https://www.gofundme.com/rebekahs-mitzah-challenge.
No donation is too small, any amount is sincerely appreciated!
Thank you,
Rebekah
