Rebecca has Kidney Cancer

Rebecca has had a hard year. Thankfully, her kidney cancer was found early! She was put on bed rest in the hospital for 3 weeks before having our beautiful baby boy, Benjamin Alexander, who spent 4 weeks in the NICU as he was 8 weeks early.  Since Rebecca had been diagnosed with preeclampsia, the doctors were keeping a close eye on her blood pressure, and as it started to drop toward normal 2 weeks after Benny’s birth, like it was supposed to, they lowered her blood pressure medication. One week later, her blood pressure spiked at the same time as she got a major sinus infection and bronchitis. The wheezing caused them to worry about clots in her lungs, so they sent her to the ER next door to have a CT scan of her lungs, which only showed inflammation, but happened to show a shadow on her kidney. Four weeks later after an ultrasound and more CT scans she was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Her surgery to remove the cancer, possibly the entire kidney is on August 21.

This cancer is almost unheard of in someone  who isn’t at least 65, she is in her early 30s. Family expenses going toward baby supplies are tight, as income is lower as Rebecca cannot work for at least another 6 months, and maybe not even then. Hospital bills from her stay, as well as many from the following appointments, are mounting up.

 We are trying to learn to be parents, as well as continue to fix up our house to provide a better home for our son (and hopefully more children to follow).  We try hard to be good people, who usually give to others, but this time we find ourselves in need of help.

This is a very trying time as we keep having to deal with constant crises that we seem to have no possible way of preventing. We pray that God will move you to assist us in our time of need.
