Dr. Tom Oord, a tenured professor at NNU, has recently been let go from his job due to "budget cuts." In recent years there has been tension between himself and President David Alexander concerning religious standpoints; this has brought about many questions and doubts that Dr. Oord was let go only on the basis of fianances.  The dissmisal has implemented an uproar on campus; students and faculty are seeking justice.

In order to raise awareness, an Idea was raised to "blast" the campus with Red, in support of Tom Oord. We are seeking to raise funds to purchase Shirts, with Oords quote "I plan to Live a Life of Love" on it, as well as the hashtag "supporttomeoord" and "Transparencynow." We are also hoping to purchase Red tablecloth's and place those in the Dex (our campus cafeteria) to raise more awareness.

In order to do this, we need funds. An estimated five dollars a shirt puts us at a total of 2500 dollars, if we are to purchase a total of 500 shirts. The extra 500 dollars will be used for the tablecloth's.

"Blessed are they who maintain justice, who constantly do what is right" (Psalm 106:3).

Imagine the good this money could do for an effort like The Ripple Effect or some other missions leaders effort. This debate is rooted in pride, gossip, and speculation. If Dr Oord believes what you say he would put an end to this and move on. Employers have rights to make hiring and firing decisions. It may hurt, people may not agree with the decisions but they do that right. This public debate does not promote, edify, or lift up Jesus Christ. Think about who you have sitting in this spotlight, it's not Jesus.

Thanks to Tom for being an intellectual leader in the Church of the Nazarene and a voice for engagement with science in the larger Christian world. The fact that his voice and his contribution make so many Christians so uncomfortable is a measure of its importance. Living a life of love is a very high calling, especially when we are in conflict. Love never stops looking to find the good in the other, but love will not buy peace at the cost of truth.

Great job on this, love the table cloth idea, just be sure you take them in your backpacks and fold them up when you leave or they may end up in the trash. How about a red rose at the tables, nice touch. For sure those who don't know what's going on will ask. Use the rose petals to scatter on the steps of the admin office.
