We are the family and friends of AMAZING students at Rock Creek Christian Academy in Upper Marlboro Md.
We are raising money to attend the 2017 Inaugural Heritage Music Festival in Washington, D.C. This is the Heritage Festival event that only comes once every 4 years.
Funds will be used to offset family costs associated with travel, lodging and fees associated with the logistics of assuring our musical ensemble can attend and perform at the Festival.
After being recently notified of our qualification for attendance, we began the planning for raising the funds. Our goal is $15000 by December 11, 2016 to send 20 students, our director and 8 chaperones to the Festival. In addition to gofundme, we are also hosting ensemble performances, dessert and food sales and silent auctions.
Our children are an eclectic mix of multi-cultural, socially diverse individuals between the ages of 5 and 17 years old. But when they come together as one and sing........MAGIC!
Having the ability to realize the opportunity that attendance and performance at this adjudicated festival grants would do wonders to peak their interests about a world that is SO much larger than our county that we live in. The children will perform before a panel of nationally-renowned adjudicators and listen to student musicians from all around the country. Culminating the festival is a special Inauguration Dance and Awards Dinner.
For many of them, this is the 1st Presidential Election of their young lives. Imagine the story they could tell: "I performed at a Music Festival for the 1st President that was elected during my lifetime!" Help our students be a part of history and enjoy the wonder and excitment of an inaugural weekend.
