Ray Lesene's Medical Fund

Ray Lesene,  who many in Duplin County communities know as "Coach", was in a terrible motorcycle accident on Monday, June 29, 2015 from which he is suffering from multiple spinal injuries as well as other complications as a result of the impact . As of today,  he's been hospitalized, in ICU, for one week and has had 2 major surgeries on his neck and leg in an attempt to get him on a road to recovery.

Ray is a wonderful husband of 15 years and the proud father of 8 (Shaneka, Tunisia, Ashley, Raheim, Lexus, Dezarae', Anthony Jr., and Dajour "Tank"), even prouder grandfather of 2, and is truly a family man. Five of the children are college students.

Ray is also a U.S. Army Veteran where he served his country in the 82nd Airborne Division for 8 years. At the time of the accident, Ray was employed as a case manager providing supportive services to veterans and their families including helping over 150 homeless veterans obtain housing.  He was also a football and basketball coach at Warsaw Middle School and coaches Air 360 semi-professional men's basketball club.  He also founded Camp Unity summer camp to give children an avenue to stay off the streets and a place to do their community service. For many years, Ray worked with developmentally disabled children and adults. He truly has a heart for those with special needs as well as those most people look down upon.  As you can see, he is a true humanitarian and has a big heart for others even above himself. He has touched the lives of so many people and continues to do so each and every day of his life. Even though he is in his current condition, he is still concerned about everybody else. Many have said "Ray is the type of guy who will give you the shirt off his back if he knew it would help".

He's also a very active member of the Fraternity of Freemasonry, Prince Hall Affiliated. He serves as an officer in his Lodge and is also a Prince of the Cape Fear Consistory (32nd Degree).

Ray has been surrounded by his large family, friends, fraternity brothers, co-workers, etc., which is a testament to the lives he has impacted. Ray's wife Chiquitta (Keysha) has been by his side the whole time and has ensured he receives the attention he needs to make it through with the help of the Lord.

Once Ray has reached a point where he can leave ICU, he will eventually go to a rehabilitation center. The time it will take for Ray to regain function can range anywhere from 6 to 18 months or longer depending on how well his progress goes, but at this point the doctors say that only time will tell.

The medical expenses have already begun to pile up and his team of physicians foresee lots more coming daily. If you know this family, you know they are always about giving and helping  others without asking for anything in return. Chiquitta tells everyone who asks what they can do to help at this time that "if God places it on your heart to donate to Ray's recovery, it will be greatly appreciated". Please remember to #prayforray & his parents, and the entire Outlaw & Lesene families, as well as all of the lives he has touched and the numerous people whose lives have been touched by this accident. Thank you & God bless you!
