Ramiro Arroyo’s fight for cancer
Donation protected
My name is Oscar Arroyo. I am the son of Ramiro Arroyo and as some of you know Ramiro was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in the spring this year at Kadlec Hospital in Richland, WA. This was also just when COVID-19 was just beginning. Previous to his illness and diagnosis, my father was the sole provider for our family of four. My father worked in agriculture for over 40 years making sure we all were well taken care of. Our family has lived paycheck to paycheck and now that he is unable to work I will be his caregiver for the remainder of the time we are in Seattle, we are left with no income through this winter. I had to resign from my old job for my father’s employer to keep our housing and support our family. It has been an emotional and financial struggle to support my parents and sister as well as pay all of our bills like insurances for vehicles, tabs, utilities and household/personal items. I also have my own bills that I would pay for while attending college that I continue to try to make minimum payments on.Ramiro is in the long process of receiving a bone marrow transplant in hopes he can get rid of this horrible cancer. He has no pension or health insurance. These funds will be used for our expenses for example food, rent, gas, bills and mainly medical expenses while we go through the transplant process which is expected to take about 3 months if not longer because of the safety requirements due to covid. Currently, no one is working in our household because I was the only family member that could be my father’s caregiver while he receives treatment in Seattle.I am very worried about my family and how much stress this whole process is causing everyone, but our main focus is hoping Ramiro is cured of cancer and can be present in our lives as he is the patriarch of our family. This is a very humbling experience and we were not raised to ask for help but this is a very difficult time and a financial hardship for our family. I feel I have tried my best to provide but without working now or having an income, I do not know what the next few weeks and months will look like. We humbly ask for assistance of any kind to help us through this difficult time so we can focus on my father’s treatment and recovery. Every dollar donated is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
God bless.
