Rally for Manuel and Family
Donation protected
On March 18th, 2019, our dear friend Manuel Calvo was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Vancouver General Hospital due to a serious bacterial infection of the lungs. Because he was also suffering from the flu, his condition worsened as he developed pneumonia. Because of this, Manuel was put into an induced coma in hopes that this would help his body recover quicker.
As of Thursday, March 21st, he continues to battle the lung infection but thankfully has overcome the flu.
He is still currently in the ICU and has reached stable condition with doctors saying that he will continue to improve albeit with a long road to recovery ahead.
Manuel is a valuable member of the tennis coaching staff at The Arbutus Club. With his extended leave of absence required due to his condition, he will be unable to continue coaching until he is fully recovered. His wife, Ileana, will also be required to take time off work to help with his recovery once he is out of the ICU as well as look after their two daughters, Fernanda and Daniela.
Manuel is a close friend of mine. I am starting this Go Fund Me account to ease the burden at this difficult time for him and his family. Over the next days, weeks, and months, there will undoubtedly be financial obligations that will quickly add up at a time when the family income stream is limited.
This will allow for the family to focus fully on his recovery.
I humbly ask for you all to share this with friends and thank you kindly for your donations.
Best,
Jeremy Salvo
