Rally around the Ropers

Donation protected
On May 10, 1997, my cousin Christina Winters married Chad Roper. They vowed to remain together in sickness and in health. For 16+ years they enjoyed the health part of that vow, and then in February 2014, Chad wasn't feeling very well. After several medical tests the following month, a large tumor and two others were found and he started the fight of his life against Stage 4 Cancer (Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma). This was devastating news to this devoted husband and father of two teenagers who adore him.

In the past 38 months, Christina has been true to her vow to remain with him in sickness. Chad has been in and out of the hospital, undergone 22 rounds of chemotherapy, had several blood/platelet transfusions and various procedures. In February 2015, he was thankful and fortunate to have a bone marrow transplant from his amazing brother. Initially, things were going well for Chad but a few weeks ago on April 19, he was re-admitted to the hospital because his organs were failing him. He is experiencing host vs graft disease, where the donated marrow is attacking his body. He is beginning another round of chemotherapy over the next 4-6 weeks.

Somehow, Chad has remained upbeat and optimistic throughout this ordeal. He faces each test and each setback with a positive attitude. His loving family is by his side 100%. But even through their smiles, you can see it is extremely hard on them all. There have been missed birthdays, milestones, sporting events, and of course a lot of missed work... with the cost of medicine being expensive, this is a huge added stress to an already devastating situation. Today is their 20th wedding anniversary... I’m sure on their wedding day they had better plans for this amazing milestone, never imagined they’d be spending it with Chad in the hospital as he is today.

Please help rally around the Roper family to help them get back on their feet through this heartbreaking time. Consider giving to their fund as a gift for their 20th wedding anniversary. To allow them to spend more time together without worrying as much about the bills. To help them buy the things they need, such as gas money as Christina goes back and forth to the hospital and a walker for him to use while at home. Any amount will help!
