Raising money to take wife to dad's funeral

We recently learned my father in law, who lives in Washington State, was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Upon further testing they learned it had spread through various places Including his bones. VA was approved to begin treatments early this week, but sadly we received news this morning he'd passed away.
We are still tackling debt and I don't have the finances to take her out there. I've even considered taking out a loan but I just used income tax to get us out of debt.
I've heard powerful stories from this group and I figured I'd see what can happen for her.
I'm doing this hoping, even though she couldn't go see her daddy and hug him, she can at least pay last respects. 
Anything is appreciated. 
She calculated gas expenses there and back to be around $500. I'm just trying to cover gas, food, and maybe a hotel to get out there and back. We have been struggling financially or I wouldn't even be doing this. I'm not against charity, but I prefer being on the giving end. I prefer to make it on my own. But for this I cant.
