Raising money to fund Ann’s cancer treatment
Lots of you may have signed and read our petition to Nationwide, on behalf of our amazing mum Ann Kelk. If you haven’t seen it, this is the link which contains lots more information:

Our Mum, Ann, was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer in May 2019 and we were heartbroken to find out it had spread. She has been having chemo since the summer (2019) and her consultant advised that a drug called avistan would be the best drug to treat the cancer. It is currently only available through private healthcare which my Mum has with her employer, Nationwide, but we were disgusted when they said their policy does not include covering medication for secondary cancer. Just to put it into context, we know other people who are currently having avistan, fully funded by their work’s health insurance.
Despite having over 4,000 signatures and so many people agreeing that this is morally wrong, Unfortunately, my emails with Nationwide have been unsuccessful. Nationwide have refused to pay for her cancer treatment through the private ‘healthcare’ benefit she had with them for over 30 years of loyal service. We are extremely disappointed that a company this big would not help one of their loyal employees, so Mum is now funding the treatment herself. It costs around £2,500 per month and her first time having the Avistan has already had such a positive result, so we are adamant it could save her life. Avistan will be available on the NHS in 2 years time, so we’re looking at a bill of over £50,000.
I am fundraising to try and raise some money to help cover Mum’s funding of Avistan, as while she is not working it’s extremely expensive and an added stress. We are mainly doing this because so many people have asked me to set up a Go Fund Me page so I thought we would give it a go. Thank you so much for everyone’s support so far and for all the love you have given to Mum. You’ll never know how much it means to her and us a family.
We will be organising some fundraisers so we can raise money too!
